Planet Jarrett had a life of its own. It started out as something to say, but it turned into something much bigger when Kevin Nash started wrestling with TNA.
Jeff and Kevin had been friends for a long time and they considered themselves good friends. Jeff had used the term Planet Jarrett many times in the past, but when it came to facing his friend at Against All Odds, Planet Jarrett became more than just something to say.
He had to prove that Planet Jarrett existed and that Kevin wouldn't be able to walk all over it. Of course, behind the scenes, he and Kevin had already worked out the end result for the match at Against All Odds.
The hype for this match continued for several weeks with both men taking a stab at each other whenever they were given the chance. The night of the big event, Planet Jarrett took on an even bigger meaning, and it had nothing to do with wrestling at all.
Jeff had thousands and thousands of fans. Kevin did too. And many of them had come to the show to see this great match live. It was an honor to see so many fans in the stands waiting for the main event to take place. It would be the last match of the night and it would be the best match of the night.
While backstage, Jeff began prepping for his match, going over the script, discussing last minute details. He and Kevin met and talked things over too. What neither man realized was that Jerry Jarrett, Jeff's father had added a little something extra to this match to make it more interesting.
And it would make things very difficult for both men.
Five minutes before the match was set to take place, Jeremy Borash appeared in the ring. Jeff was confused. So was Kevin. Neither man had heard anything about him making an appearance. "Do you know what this is about?" Kevin asked. "No idea." Jeff admitted. That was unusual, especially since Jeff pretty much ran TNA along with his father.
"Tonight, ladies and gentlemen." Jeremy began speaking into a microphone, getting the attention of both men. "Tonight, we're going to have a special guest referee for the main event. And I'd like to introduce that person now." Jeremy said.
"Okay, who's the ref?" Kevin asked. Jeff shrugged. He hadn't been told about this. "This must be my father's doing." He said.
"Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce the special guest referee for the main event this evening. Please welcome, Liz Dakota." Jeremy said.
"Who the hell is Liz Dakota?" Kevin asked. Jeff laughed. "I have no idea." He said. Both men watched as a woman climbed over the wall and got into the ring.
She was short, petite, and had long brown hair that was hanging down to the lower part of her back. "Wow." Kevin muttered. "Yeah, that goes for me too." Jeff said. "I don't know if I can concentrate with that in the ring." Kevin remarked. Jeff laughed. "Well, better get ready because you're out first." Jeff replied.
Jeremy left the ring and Kevin was announced next. He made his way out and nodded to Liz as he got into the ring. She nodded to him and smiled, but she didn't try to talk to him. Jeff made his grand entrance after that. He nodded to Liz too and she returned the nod, but she didn't try talking to him either.
"Has she been prepped for this match?" Jeff wondered. "Wonder if she's single?" Kevin wondered to himself. "Man, she's got great legs." Jeff thought.
Liz smiled at both men. She knew they were checking her out, but that was the farthest thing from her mind. If she proved herself tonight, she'd have a job with TNA. That's what Mr. Jarrett had told her. And she intended to do just that.
She'd already went over the whole match, including the finish and the outcome, so she was fully prepared for everything. She signaled for the bell and the match began.
Kevin and Jeff circled one another for a few seconds before locking up. Kevin shoved Jeff hard sending him down to the canvas, but Jeff got right back up again.
Once again, the men locked up. Liz watched intently, making sure that no rules were broken, no mistakes were made, and that both men were doing what they were supposed to be doing.
Five minutes into the match, Jeff had already hit Kevin with one guitar without Liz noticing. He went for another one, but Liz saw him this time and yanked the guitar out of his grasp. She threw it to the outside and motioned for Jeff to carry on.
Jeff tried to give Kevin a DDT, but Kevin countered the move and slammed Jeff into the canvas. This brutality continued for another five minutes or so before Liz gave the signal for both men to wrap it up. Kevin finished Jeff with a Jackknife Powerbomb, winning the Heavyweight title.
Afterwards, Kevin approached Liz, intending to invite her to have dinner, but Liz told him she wasn't interested. Jeff did the same, but Liz blew him off too. She wasn't there to make friends. She was there to impress Jerry Jarrett, having no idea that his son Jeff Jarrett was part owner of TNA wrestling. This was something she didn't know, but she was about to find out...
Unlike Kevin, Jeff had struck up a conversation with Liz and they ended up walking to the back together. Jeff talked about his match with Kevin and asked Liz how she'd come to be the special ref during his match. Liz explained that Jerry Jarrett had invited her to come and try out.
Once again, Jeff asked Liz to go out with him. This time, she got irritated with him and told him off. "Is that all men ever think about?" She demanded before storming away from him. Jeff smiled to himself as he went to find his father. He'd already decided that he liked Liz, but her attitude would have to go. After all, this was his world and she'd just earned herself a one way pass onto planet Jarrett. There was no turning back now.
"Dad, I'd like to talk to you about the new girl." Jeff said. "Now son, I know I didn't discuss this with you, but it was a last minute idea." Jerry explained. Jeff waved his hand and laughed. "It's fine. I like her. She's pretty good, but where did you find her?" He asked. "Well, Dusty kind of recommended her. She's originally from Florida." Jerry explained. "She lives right here in Florida?" Jeff asked. "That's right, but she's been all over the place. I saw a few tapes and decided she was worth a shot." Jerry replied.
"Does she wrestle?" Jeff asked. "Oh sure, but I thought this would be a better start for her." Jerry said. Jeff agreed with his father. Now for the moment of truth. "How old is she?" He asked. "Oh about twenty-two." Jerry said. "Gee, only half my age." Jeff thought. To him that wasn't a huge problem though. She certainly seemed mature enough anyway.
"Well, I'm off to get cleaned up a bit. I wanna get out of here." Jeff told his father. "I'll call you tomorrow." Jerry replied. Jeff nodded and left his father alone. He ran into Kevin in the hall. Scott was with him. "Hey, did she accept?" Kevin asked. "No, she didn't." Jeff admitted. Scott and Kevin smirked at Jeff. "Well, she didn't say yes to you either." He pointed out. "No, but I'm just getting warmed up." Kevin said.
"Kev, you may have that title, but this is one time when I won't let you get over on me. That girl is going to go out with me, so you can forget it. Besides, she's much too young for you." Jeff said. "How old is she?" Scott asked. "Twenty-two." Jeff said. "Well, that's half my age. And I ain't much older than you." Kevin argued. "Yeah, but this is my world and I'm going to make sure I get a date with her before the end of the week." Jeff insisted. "Fine, let's put a wager on this. You get her by the end of the week, I'll give you this belt back at the next PPV, but if I get a date with her, then I keep it." Kevin said. "You're on." Jeff retorted.
Liz had been on her way out of the building when she heard the two men talking. She smiled to herself as she left for the night. "So, they wanted a date with her that bad, did they?" She thought. Well, she'd make sure they got exactly what they wanted, and then some.
A week later, the crew set up for another taping of Impact. Jeff and Kevin met to discuss their appearance that night. They'd be meeting in the hall in a confrontation, leading up to the next PPV.
Liz would be doing ref work again for a few of the matches, so she had her black and white shirt on with a pair of tight black jeans. She spotted Kevin first. He nodded to her and smiled, but he didn't stop. Jeff stopped walking when he saw Liz. She copped an attitude with him immediately and left him feeling frustrated.
She noticed Scott Hall at the end of the hall laughing at Jarrett and winked at him as she went through a door. After talking with Jerry Jarrett for a few minutes, Liz left and went to get ready for the first match.
By the end of the night, Kevin was determined to get a date with Liz. When he saw her heading for the exit, he ran to catch up to her. Then he asked her again. This time, she accepted and suggested a diner near the studio. They arranged to meet the following night at eight. "Why don't you bring that big, shiny, gold belt with you." Liz suggested. Kevin immediately agreed to and promised to see her the following night.
On her way to her car, Jeff ran into her and asked her to go out. Liz accepted and arranged to meet him at the same time and place that she'd arranged to meet Kevin. She was going to give both men exactly what they wanted and then some and she was going to do it publicly to let them know that she knew about their little wager.
She was looking forward to getting over on both men, but she still hadn't learned of Jeff's status with TNA. Considering what she was about to do, that was probably a good thing.
Liz sat in her bedroom getting ready for her date. She'd made a phone call a while ago asking for a little assistance with this. If the guys wanted to play games with her, she was going to play too.
She brushed her long brown hair and smiled at herself in the mirror. She was looking forward to this night. It would be a very eventful evening if she could help it.
After checking herself over once, she grabbed her purse and left the house to go to the diner. She arrived about thirty minutes later and went inside. Neither of the men had arrived yet, so Liz made herself comfortable in a booth.
"Can I help you?" The waitress asked. "Sorry, I'm waiting for someone. I'll order when they get here." Liz said. The waitress nodded and walked away. Liz watched the door for a bit until she saw Jeff come in. "Well, at least he's not too late." She thought.
"Hey, sorry I'm late. Dad kept me." Jeff explained as he sat down. "It's okay. I wasn't waiting too long." Liz replied. The two started talking and Liz noticed the waitress making her way over again. "Ready to order?" She asked. Jeff picked up the menu, but Liz told the waitress she wasn't ready yet. She wanted to wait for Kevin to get there.
Kevin showed up five minutes later and he had the belt with him. He walked over with a smile on his face until he saw Jeff. "What are you doing here?" He asked. "What are you doing here?" Jeff countered. "Gentlemen, I think I can explain." Liz offered. Kevin sat down, though Jeff wasn't thrilled about it.
"You see, I know that both of you wanted a date with me, so I figured it'd be more fun to go out with both of you instead of just one of you." Liz said.
"Both of us?" Jeff asked. "Oh sure, two is definitely better that one." Liz insisted. Both men were a little surprised at how forward Liz seemed to be, but she just smiled politely at them. "So, shall we order?" She asked. They nodded and Liz waved the waitress over.
After the three of them had ordered, Liz talked with both men, giving a little of herself to each of them. She was enjoying herself, but Kevin and Jeff seemed to be getting into a power struggle right in front of her.
They ate, while talking about work, among other things and the night seemed to be going okay. Then Liz's other surprise showed up. She smiled at the man who was making his way over to her.
"Hi, what are you doing here?" She asked. "I was about to ask you the same thing." He said, his tone a bit thingyy. Liz stood up and smiled. "I was just having dinner with two co-workers." She explained. Kevin and Jeff looked at one another. Both men were confused.
"Really? And you failed to mention this to me because...?" He asked. "Jeff, Kev, I'd like you to meet my boyfriend, Chad." Liz said. "Your boyfriend?" Jeff asked. "Yeah, didn't I mention that I had one?" She asked. "No." Kevin said. "Oh, sorry." Liz replied as she smiled at him.
"Come on, let's get out of here." Chad said. "But, I can't just leave these two really nice men here alone." Liz argued. "They'll be fine." Chad retorted. "Well, sorry boys, I've got to go." Liz said.
Before she could leave, Kevin stood up and called her name. "Why did you invite us out if you have a boyfriend?" He asked. "Oh, because I just wanted you both to know that I know about your little wager and neither one of you has a chance in hell." Liz replied. Then she left with Chad.
When she got outside, she kissed him on the cheek and thanked him. "Any time." He said as he walked to his car. Liz watched him go before heading towards her car. Kevin and Jeff had seen Chad leaving alone, so they both went after Liz.
"Hey, I thought you were leaving with him." Jeff said. "Well, I did, but he's going home now." Liz replied. "You know, I'm a little confused here." Kevin admitted. "Well, let me make it very simple for you then." Liz offered. "You see, I don't really have a boyfriend. Chad is just a friend of mine. And you two need to learn that you shouldn't take advantage of a woman." Liz said.
"You lied?" Jeff asked. "Yep." Liz replied. "Why?" Kevin asked. "Because you did too. How would you feel if you knew two women who'd placed a wager on you?" Liz asked. Kevin frowned slightly when he heard her. "Will you accept my apology?" He asked. "Of course. But don't let it happen again and let this be a lesson. Never try to get over on a woman, Mr. Nash." Liz replied.
"I'm sorry too." Jeff said. "You should be. Your father is the one who hired me." Liz retorted. "Hey, I'll have you know that I'm..." Jeff began. "I really would love to stand here and talk all night, but I want to get home and take a nice warm bath." Liz said. She walked away before either man could say anything.
"Darn." Jeff muttered. "Serves us right." Kevin said. "Yeah, I guess so. I didn't know that she knew about that wager." Jeff admitted. "So, what do we do about the belt now?" Kevin asked. "Go on and keep it for another month. You deserve it anyway." Jeff said. "Let's go have a few drinks." Kevin suggested. "Sounds good to me." Jeff replied.
Liz went home and enjoyed a warm bubble bath, while Jeff and Kevin went out to have a few beers. Kevin called Scott and invited him to join them. "So, what are you two doing together?" Scott asked. "We were played." Jeff said. "By Liz?" Scott asked. "Yeah, she agreed to go out with both of us." Kevin said. Jeff finished explaining what happened while the trio had drinks together in a local bar. "She sure fooled you both." Scott remarked. "Yeah, you got that right." Kevin agreed.
The following week at work, Liz ran into Kevin and thanked him for a wonderful night out. He knew she was being sarcastic, so he laughed. "I deserve that." He commented. "Yes you do, Mr. Nash." Liz said. "Please stop calling me that. Just call me Kevin." He said. He held his hand out for her to shake. "Friends?" He asked. "Sure, that sounds like an idea." Liz replied as she shook his hand.
Later on that night, Liz went to meet Jerry for a briefing about her work that night. When she got into the office though, she found Jeff Jarrett. "Where's your father?" She asked. "He took the night off. And I know why you're here, so let's get started." He said. "Wait a minute, you're doing the briefing with me?" Liz asked. "That's right." Jeff said. "When did you suddenly become the boss?" Liz asked. "The day the company opened." Jeff retorted.
"Oh my God, you're my boss?" Liz asked. Jeff laughed when he heard her. "You really didn't know?" He asked. "No, I thought your father was the only one in charge around here." Liz admitted. "Well, surprise." Jeff said. "Oh man and I haven given you nothing but a major attitude. I'm so sorry." Liz said. "Don't worry about it. I haven't exactly been that easy to be around." Jeff replied.
For forty minutes, she and Jeff went over the details of her job that night. After they finished, he asked her out again. "I don't think that's a good idea. You're my boss." Liz said. "So? Come on. It'll be fun. And this time, it'll just be the two of us." Jeff said. "Why should I date you and not Kevin?" Liz asked. "Because, I'm your boss." Jeff said, jokingly, but Liz didn't find that amusing. "No thanks." She said, before leaving the office.
Jeff wasn't thrilled with her answer and decided that he wasn't going to give up that easily, but Liz had already decided that she wasn't going to date either man. In fact, she didn't want a man. She just wanted to build up her career in the wrestling industry, eventually becoming a full-time wrestler.
That night, Jeff watched Liz work. Kevin caught him staring and smirked. "You know she's not going to give in." He said. "She'll give in. I always get what I want." Jeff retorted. Kevin shrugged as he walked away from his friend. He'd already learned not to push anymore. If Liz wanted something, she'd let him know. He was no fool when it came to dating. But Jeff obviously didn't see things that way. And Kevin knew that it would probably lead to big trouble for Liz, especially since Jeff was her employer.
Over the next several weeks, Liz got comfortable with her new position in TNA. She went from being a referee to a part-time wrestler, while still being a ref for certain matches. One such match between Jeff Jarrett and Monty Brown became quite a spectacle, because Jerry Jarrett had asked his newest employee to get involved in the match.
But, Jerry decided to surprise both men by not telling them about this. So, during the match when Liz charged Jeff and knocked him clear out of the ring, he and Monty Brown were confused.
Jeff got back in and was about to threaten her, but Mike Tenay signaled to him. He stopped himself and turned his attention to Monty Brown who took advantage of this distraction and laid Jeff out.
Liz smiled triumphantly at the flattened Jarrett as Monty pinned him. She counted to three and raised Monty's arm in the air signaling victory. Afterwards, she went backstage, where Jeff confronted her.
"What was that all about?" He demanded. "Ask your father." Liz retorted, as she walked away from him wiith a smile plastered on her face. Jeff decided that he'd get even with her for that.
He went to speak to his father about what had happened that night. Jerry found the entire thing amusing, but Jeff was angry and warned his father not to spring any surprises on him anymore. Jerry promised that he wouldn't.
Jeff decided to return the favor to his father by not telling him about what he had in mind for Liz. She was going to wrestle Trinity the following week and Jeff would be making an unnanounced appearance during the match.
A week later, Liz met Trinity in the ring. It was the typical female vs. female match with nothing special happening, but both women gave it their all and impressed the crowd. Liz won the match, which made her very happy because it was her first win and against a seasoned female wrestler.
After the match, Trinity gave Liz the biggest attitude. The women started to argue until Jeff Jarrett walked out. They stopped arguing and turned their attention to the ramp where Jeff was currently standing. He made his way down to the ring and got in.
"You can leave now." He said to Trinity who's mouth fell open at the way Jeff had spoken to her. "And you..." He said, pointing at Liz. "You and I have something to discuss." He said.
Liz looked slightly confused and Jeff found this amusing since she'd done the same thing to him a week earlier. "You're not going to knock me out of the ring, are you?" She asked. "Of course not. I wouldn't hit a woman. I don't believe in it." Jeff said. "Then what are you doing?" She asked.
"This..." Jeff replied. He grabbed her by the back of her neck and kissed her forcefully at first, but then he lightened up a little, but he didn't let go of her.
After the kiss ended, he noticed that he'd taken the air right out of her lungs and that was what he'd been hoping for. He turned around and left the ring, while Liz stood there watching him in utter shock.
As soon as she got her wits about her, she left the ring and went after him. Backstage, she stopped him. "What the hell was that?" She asked. "What...the kiss? I thought you liked that." He said. She didn't say anything, so he smiled. "Why don't you just admit that you want me?" He asked.
"What makes you think I do?" She countered. "You wouldn't have kissed me if you didn't." He pointed out. "Like I had a choice." She retorted. "You had a choice." He told her. She knew that she had, but for some reason, she hadn't stopped him and now she wondered if that had been a mistake. This wasn't just an ordinary man. This was her boss.
"So?" He asked. "So what?" Liz countered. "So, will you go out with me now?" Jeff asked. "You're my boss." She argued. "That has nothing to do with this. So what if I'm your boss? I'm just a regular guy who happens to own a wrestling company." He said. "That I work for." Liz reminded him. "And that's because of my father, not because of me." Jeff said. "So, you wouldn't have hired me?" Liz asked. "I might've. I don't know." He admitted. "Well, at least you're honest." Liz replied.
She started to walk away, but Jeff grabbed her arm. "Look, just come to my house for dinner." He said. "You want to cook dinner for me?" Liz asked. "Sure, I'm a great cook." He said. "I don't know." Liz muttered. "Come on. Just once. If you can't stand me, I'll never bother you again, but I promise you that I'm a great guy and we'll have a nice time together." Jeff said.
Liz thought it over for a minute before finally accepting. "Oh, just one more thing... My father will be joining us for dinner." Jeff said. "Why?" Liz asked. "Well, he's living with me at the moment. You see, he just bought a new home and he's having it renovated, so he's staying at my house." Jeff said. "Won't that be a little weird?" Liz asked. "Having dinner with my father?" Jeff countered. Liz shrugged and smiled.
"Come on. I promise you, he won't stick around all night. He's not that kind of guy." Jeff said. "Okay, okay. I'll come, but if I'm not enjoying myself, I'm gone." Liz said. "Great, come tomorrow night at eight." Jeff said. "Do you want me to pick you up?" He asked. "No thank you. I'll bring my car in case I want to leave early." Liz replied. Jeff gave her his address and told her how to get to his house.
